As an aside, there was a contest to decide the most beautiful word in the world. The winner was yakamoz, Turkish for “the reflection of the moon in the water.” Are there words that should be added to the list? Let me know.

I wouldn’t translate “Leidenschaft” as “to suffer together”. Its like “wissenschaft”=“science” with “wissen”=“knowing” substituted by “leiden”=“suffer”..
Another funny word is “Kichererbse”=“giggling pea”=chickpea :D
... or “Fernweh”=“an ache for the distance” (far more modern version of wanderlust)

I like the german word “handschuh” - ‘hand shoe.’ It means glove! “Krankenhaus” - “kranky house” - hospital. (Who’s NOT cranky when they’re sick?) Just a couple of words that always make me smile. Thanks for the rest of them..isn’t language fascinating?
